Thermoplastic Elastomer Compounds (TPE)

Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), are a class of copolymers with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties.  TPEs are used extensively in medical catheters and other applications for their unique blend of strength, elasticity, and flexibility.  The TPE pyramid below outlines the most common elastomer families including thermoplastic urethane (TPU), polyamide (PEBA), thermoplastic rubber (TPR), and PVC.

  • TPU - Thermoplastic Urethane
  • Polyamide- Elastomeric Nylons
  • TPO- Thermoplastic Olefin Blends
  • TPV- Thermoplastic Alloys
  • TPR- Thermoplastic Rubber
  • TPE-ET - Thermoplastic Copolyester
